Okay, my new used 8 has some pretty obnoxious squeeling brakes. I took it to Brake place and, unbelievably, they told me the pads are still good - maybe it's just dust. So I cleaned the piss out of the rotors and even used a can of Brake Clean stuff which worked for 1/2 day but they're squeeling again. So, theories please. My guess is that these are some sort of metallic pads and I'm stuck with this sound until I switch out to ceramics or something.

It probably is just cheap pads or you may need to put brake quiet stuff behind the pads.

I have the same problem. I upgraded my pads to a middle of the road set and it took care to the noise for a little while, however i still get the brake noise. Mazda's answer to all my questions reguarding the noise is the rotors are cheap pos. Sorry but the only way i see is to upgrade the rotors and pads and hope it stops. Either that or turn up the radio. Seems to be working for me. JK

Mine does that to. It's actually pretty annoying when I have the radio of and the windows open. Could just be dust IDK. The pads rotors. I'm no expert so IDK really. I'm just used to it. Did it with the stock pads and rotors and it does it with my aftermarket ones. Oh well.

This has to do with pad quality. Usually you can get some anti-sqeak spray. (Put some Permatex "antisqueal" on the back of the pads. Use some copper grease on the areas where the pads meet the calipers... on the glides where the "ears" of the pad meet the caliper (don't overdo it, and don't get it on the rotors), and put it all back together.)
I eventually swapped out rotors and pads on my Saab. My OEM rotors and pads couldn't take my braking.

There's a TSB for the brakes. Print it out, and take it in...
